I'm back to my computer after what seems like forever!! In my absence I have glimpsed absolutely nothing except for clouds and some of the complexity of human behaviour and life. Looking at the rest of the people around me I can safely say that they are some of the hardest subjects to study. Being one of them doesn't help me at all. One of the things that are slightly mystifying to me is our complete oblivion to the way we treat others. I know that not everyone does this but it seems to me that we can see the splinter in someone else's eye but not the log in our own. I am not a specialist in human behaviour but I have my hunches to why this happens to even the best of us. Here are some of them:

1. We want to see the worst in others to make us feel better about ourselves ( like in bullying cases)

2. We can't handle the fact that the average person is not better than the average person and that we really need to treat others the same as what we would treat ourselves.

3. We convince ourselves that whatever we are doing or not doing is different to what another person is doing or not doing, when actually they are in the same category.

I have now run out of hunches and my Internet meter is running wild. On this note I bid you farewell and hopefully I will be back soon with something more exciting than this.

P.S. Please tell me if I said something wrong or misinforming in the post. It will be greatly appreciated!!

  4. Indonesia, Wow, perhaps I should come visit you! I just have a feeling though, that if I suggest such a thing to my parents, the answer will be--yes, if I pay the plane ticket(that's what happened the last time I suggested we go to Australia). Tommorrow night we are having our book discussion evening. We are discussing The Chosen, by Chaim Potok. I really suggest that you would read it. I don't know if I have ever read such a beutiful book and thoughts. We will all miss you. Heidi

  5. When I went to school, I really noticed a lot of the first observation you made, It seems so sad that people feel they need to make others feel bad, bullyed, hurt or left out becaus of it.
